THE METHOD
We don't do "Top 10" lists. We build data models to find the single best choice for specific contexts. Here is exactly how we do it.
CORE PRINCIPLES
- 01. Context is Everything
- 02. Data Over Opinion
- 03. Brutal Honesty
- 04. No Pay-to-Play
01. CONTEXT IS EVERYTHING
There is no such thing as the "best laptop." There is only the best laptop for a computer science student, or the best laptop for video editing in the right budget segment.
We start every evaluation by defining strict contexts. If a product doesn't perfectly serve the specific constraints of that context, it cannot win.
02. DATA OVER OPINION
We aggregate thousands of data points: technical specifications, verified user reviews, market movement, and failure rates.
Our decision engine weights these factors based on the context. Battery life gets a 40% weight for students, but only a 5% weight for desktop replacements. The math decides the winner, not a writer's preference.
03. BRUTAL HONESTY
Every product has flaws. If we recommend a product, we will explicitly tell you why you might hate it in the "When to Avoid" section. We highlight the limitations just as prominently as the advantages.
04. NO PAY-TO-PLAY
Brands cannot buy their way onto our lists. We do not accept sponsored placements, free review units in exchange for positive coverage, or direct advertising.
HOW WE MAKE MONEY
If you click a link and buy a product, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. This applies to almost all retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, direct brands), which keeps our algorithm neutral. We recommend what the data says is best, and the monetization follows naturally.
